Gym Assistant

Job Summary

Gym assistants are responsible for the gym's reception area and equipment. This position includes the greeting of all guests, answering phone calls, assisting guests with questions regarding gym services and equipment, selling gym memberships, verifying member sign-ins, and charging for gym products. Gym assistants are also reponsible for maintaining a clean, safe environment for guests and members.

Responsibilities

  • Be on time for your shift.
  • Open or close the gym according to standard operating procedures.
  • Acknowledge and greet everyone who enters and leaves the gym facilities.
  • Provide detailed descriptions of gym services, classes, and products.
  • Answer the phone promptly.
  • Provide accurate, appropriate, and immediate responses to all requests by guests, ensuring complete guest satisfaction.
  • Instruct guests in the correct and safe use of gym equipment.
  • Utilize gym computers with skill and proficiency.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the gym facilities and all gym equipment.
  • Fold and maintain the stock of towels for all gym guests.
  • Develop the ability to work without constant direct supervision.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a pleasant gym environment.
  • Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving guests in the gym that require attention.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Must have enthusiasm about personal fitness and possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task.
  • Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Must possess basic math and money handling skills.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and computer skills.
  • Must be a team player.
